ABOUT
Through dance, live music, and stunning visuals, Bollywood Boulevard creates a live 3D film experience on stage, taking audiences on a journey though over 100 years of Hindi cinema. Bringing to life hallmark songs and dance, Bollywood Boulevard captures the artistry, spirit, grandeur, and impact of an industry that has millions of fans across the globe. As the show moves from the era of black and while films to today, the music, costumes, choreography, and artwork reflect the essence of each time period.
Bollywood Boulevard will have audiences falling in love with the vibrance, emotions, and heart-pounding beat that inspires the world’s largest entertainment industry, thrilling lifelong fans and novices alike.

Bollywood Boulevard: A Journey Through Hindi Cinema, created by MELA Productions in association with Aaditaal Music Project, is commissioned by Lincoln Center for Lincoln Center Out of Doors in association with The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.

What That’s Entertainment did for Hollywood musicals, Bollywood Boulevard does for Hindi cinema through a highly entertaining stage show.
Bollywood Boulevard was a superb night of exuberant fun. It is a beautiful production with incredibly talented dancers and musicians with live music, video projections and superb choreography. This show is an incredible opportunity to bring a large scale Indian music and dance program to the public.
It was exuberantly performed, colorful and entertaining– wonderfully nostalgic too, I’m sure, for audience members of the Indian diaspora.
Absolutely incredible! I was singing along to all the songs and it was moving to see my mother re-love so many moments from history.
A lively and insightful capsule history of Indian cinema as well as a revealing immersion in cinematic cross-pollination and playful mass movement.

Engagement Activities for Bollywood Boulevard can include:
- Film screenings of iconic Bollywood films and/or a mini Bollywood film festival
- Talks on Hindi cinema for film studies or general public such as Portrayal of Women in Hindi Cinema, Cultural Diplomacy & Hindi Cinema, Storytelling in Hollywood vs Bollywood (we have a list of potential speakers if needed)
- Bollywood Dance lessons taught by local Indian dance company or the show‘s dance cast
- Flash mob or flash performance by Indian dance company as precursor event
- Plethora of talks that can be done in different departments like women’s studies, anthropology, and more
- Rhythms of Bollywood – music workshop on the changing sounds of Bollywood through the lens of rhythm
MELA works with presenters to create customized residencies that incorporate local partners and organizations, and maximize the local and regional resources available.
